Panic, panic, flail, flail

Desperately trying to get the rest of my
hp_beholder recs in before the reveal, and I still haven't finished reading them all *sigh*
The Two Names of Xiomara Rolanda Hooch (McGonagall/Hooch, PG-13) by
pauraque is just beautiful. I have a fascination with names (I've lost count of the times I've had characters go by different names in stories. It's definitely a thing with me, god knows why) and this pokes at the mystery of Hooch's name and other questions of identity. Love it.
Smiles of a Summer Night (Moody/McGonagall, R) by
kellychambliss is one that has really stayed with me since reading it. I tend to favour fics that are heavier on dialogue than this as a general rule, but it kept my interest until we got there, and the Moody and Minerva interaction is well worth the wait. This is a marvellous glimpse at a real (if interrupted) relationship rather than one of those mystifying things involving perfect bodies and some sort of standard progression which make less and less sense to me, to be truthful. Wonderfully believable, and best of all, you can genuinely feel the attraction here...but that's why we love this fest, right?
A Fire in the Deep (Grey Lady/Bloody Baron, PG-13), by
chantefable. And right after I mention my thing for dialogue, we have one with none at all. I didn't even notice. Completely entrancing.
A Magical Moment in the Life of Petunia Dursley, Née Evans (Petunia/Snape, Petunia/Vernon, Petunia/Lily (of sorts), R) by
pale_moonlite is wonderful, revolving around one perfect moment where Petunia had real power to hold over someone. I'm getting quite shockingly fond of Petunia lately. Hmm.
Safe in Your Arms (Art, Snape/McGonagall, PG-13) by
shadowycat. Doesn't really need any explanation. This is beautiful.
ETA: I have to take a break, but I hope I will manage a few more recs before the reveal. I'll keep adding to this post for now. Since there are quite a few I haven't had chance to comment on yet though, feel free to take a wild stab in the dark about which entry is mine :D It's a pairing I've never written before, though I've written one of the characters in the past in a different pairing. Everything else is, um. Very me. And if you haven't read it yet, you NEED to read the gift for me, Eyes Open. No excuses, it has Snape. And Moody. And it appeals to the long ago drama geek in me among many, many other things. READ IT NOW.The author
