Not really connected with the LJ issue of the moment, more general time-wasting. I was writing HP fic, got stuck and ended up writing original f/f (don't ask me where it came from, but there's plot so I'm not arguing right now) and now I need a break, so... I'm trying to get this journal usable as I've said I would ages ago, but I have eye-hurty issues. This is the least painful layout I could find but I'm still going to have to change a lot, including the font, to make it pleasant for me to use. I think I've messed up part of it already *g* No, apparently it's intentional that the edit/reply stuff is invisible black on black and I can't change it. Fuck that for a game of soldiers. *changes it*

My main problem right now is the Dreamwidth background red on white parts *fails to come up with a proper name for it*. Is there a way to change the appearance of that I haven't found yet? It only takes a few seconds before the headache starts descending, the red is too much for me really.

ETA: Fixed the site scheme (I looked, but apparently not hard enough!) and it's much less painful now. Phew. Thank you [personal profile] jackandahat.

Hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in - the red background was what kept me from moving to DW at first, so I had to ask around for that one myself.

Go to Home -> Organize -> Manage account, click on the Display tab, go to Site Scheme, and pick anything that's not "Tropospherical Red" (I'm a fan of the purple myself, but there's a few to choose from) Then just click Save.

Original f/f? You're going to have to tell me more at some point! Sounds cool. :D

Hey, did you figure out what you needed to.
I have visual issues too but I tend to need black background with white text. Well actually a dark brown/cream is even better. Too much white gives me migraines very quickly.
I'm loving dreamwidth because I can make the posting box light on dark too. \o/
I post on DW and it cross posts to my LJ. I'm still reading most on LJ because most people are still there.
But also DW doesn't have space for hosting my art yet. It's the main reason I have a paid LJ and not DW.
I'm terribly impressed with the way Dreamwidth have been so helpful and genuinely want to help people with visual problems still be able to use the sight.
