I knew I wanted it to have a bit of hoary old man humour in there, along with some of the down-to-earth phrasing and presence of this type of character that I love in delphi's work. As you say, high-brow or too close a copy of Albus -- who I adore writing -- just wouldn't work for Aberforth. And they deserved a happy ending after such a long wait ;-)
